If presented with these three choices, if you’re like most research participants, you’re more likely to go with the $50 wallet. Now let's say there was a third wallet in the mix- the decoy- which costs $60 but looks lower in quality than the $50 wallet. If you’re like most people, you tend to be drawn equally to the two wallets. One is clearly of high quality but expensive ($50) and the other is clearly far lower in quality but is cheaper ($30). In the decoy effect, you must make a choice between two alternatives which each present pros and cons. ![]()
